Campbell's Chronicles

4/16/18

Field trip forms and money are due by THIS Friday, 4/20/18.

4/13/18

We have had a very busy week! I was so happy to see that when they came back on Monday, they were ready to learn and had not really forgotten that much since before the break! We were able to move on instead of having to reivew a lot.

The field trip forms went home this week. They are due back with the money by 4/20. The cost for your child is $16.50. While I know it is a little high, the cost includes riding the train when we get there, snacks for before and after, as well as lunch when we get back. We will be ordering pizza from Pizza Hut. If you decide to join us, your cost is $8. It includes the train ride and the pizza, as well. Please make sure that if you are attending the field trip with your child that you have completed the background check. A background check form can be obtained from the school office. If you need one, please contact your teacher or the office to get it.

Please make sure that your child is practicing reading every night. Please encourage them to read a story that is a little higher than the last story, if the last story was very easy for them. Please make sure that they reading at a faster pace. We will be taking a test (not graded, just to see where they are) where they will have to read to someone in a minute. The higher the score with less mistakes, the better level they will be placed at. Also, ask them about the stories they read. See if you can get them to recall at least a few sentences that include these items: characters, setting, and plot.

The summer is fast approaching! I know that you are all busy planning what your child will be doing this summer. Please take time to plan something educational as well. I do not want them to backslide. They have ALL made TREMENDOUS growth since the first day. I want them to go into 2nd grade ready to learn! The library offers different programs each week.

4/9/18

Welcome back from Easter Break!

We only have a 7 weeks left of school!

Please make sure that your child is at school each day and on time. Please make sure that they are doing their homework. The children should be writing their own homework, not anyone else. Remember, if your child skips a night of homework, they will have double the homework the next day. Do not wait until Thursday night to do all the homework. It is too much! That is why I send home only one day's worth of homework so that your child focus' on just that day's work and not an entire week's worth.

The next prayer that the children will be learning is the Act of Contrition. They will need to know this for 2nd grade. I am sending it home today. Please make sure that your child is reading it each night. I will test them on it on 5/11.
